Osteopaths holistic approach to healthcare understands the structure of the body governs the way it functions and identifies the underlying cause of the injury for long term results. Osteopaths also prescribe exercise rehabilitation, ergonomic advice and other education and management strategies.
ERGONOMIC ASSESSMENT
Since COVID-19, there has been a massive increase in home-based work stations used by parents, university students, school aged children and grandparents alike. It is imperative that your work station is ergonomically set up to decrease postural related injury and injury at the workplace. Via telehealth, we can effectively undertake ergonomic assessments for the whole family or for your business-based work stations, ensuring it is set up with correct equipment and correct posture positions to suit individuals. Work station mobility exercises are prescribed to empower you with the knowledge to decrease muscular pain and joint stiffness on a day-to-day basis. This ergonomic assessment is an ideal service which will benefit you for the short and long term! Ergonomic advice can also be provided during an Osteopathic consultation.
PREGNANCY
A beautiful stage of life where the body goes through dramatic and rapid changes. Our pregnancy treatments are covered under a regular osteopathic consultation but involve a belly pillow; this allows comfortability of the patient throughout the stages of pregnancy. The belly pillow allows the patient to lie on their tummy comfortably, allowing the practitioner to treat the lower back and pelvis directly, encouraging optimal results. Specific pre and post-natal treatment, education and rehabilitation aims to support the transition through pregnancy naturally and with minimal pain and impact on the body.
DRY NEEDLING
Dry Needling is a technique which is used to treat muscular pain. It is a safe and widely accepted treatment which involves inserting acupuncture needles into areas of muscular tension. If you are experiencing muscle spasm, tightness, pain and tenderness it may be the result of having a trigger point within the muscle. A trigger point is a focussed area of muscular tightness and tenderness which can be assessed and identified by Dr Ryan Turner. The needles are very thin and may not be felt by the patient or may induce a twitch response which stimulates a healing response in the tissue and reduces tension and pain within the muscle. Dry needling is covered within an Osteopathic consultation and used in addition to other techniques to improve your health. Ask your Osteopath more about dry needling treatment and any discuss any further questions you may have.
CHRONIC PAIN
Chronic pain is persistent pain which continues beyond the normal healing time of the structure. It can vary in nature and severity and occurs because of changes to the nerves or nervous system which keeps the nerves firing and signalling pain. Due to the holistic approach of Osteopathy and the various methods of treatment, we tackle chronic pain from many different angles. We believe in a multidisciplinary approach to empower the patient and provide the individual with the ideal management to reduce pain and improve function. Each persons experience of chronic pain is different and our comprehensive history allows all aspects of the person’s life to be assessed and provide individualised tailored treatment. Education and management strategies allow the best possible outcome, improving health and decreasing the severity and frequency of pain episodes.
